Car park spaces built beside lakes in Naas

NAAS 04 April 2003: This month’s Roads & Footpath Works Programme being undertaken by Naas Town Council include edging of the Ballymore Road to allow for 40 car parking spaces (pictured above); junction widening at the Ballymore Road/Craddockstown Road; and controversial resurfacing of a parking area on the Fair Green for 30 spaces. All work will be completed by next week.

Under its Road Reconstruction/Surface Restoration programme the Council plans surface overlay work to the 2nd cul de sac in Lakelands Estate, surface overlay in Lakeside Park, surface restoration in Ashfield Park, repair work in Pacelli and Sarto Road, surface work along the Canal Road and Craddockstown Road, patching and surface work to Corban’s Lane and surface restoration to the Tipper Road.

Footpath repair will take place in Ashgrove, Lakelands, Kingsfurze and Elmwood. Ramps and speed controls will take place on the Monread to Dublin Road, ramps in Rathasker Road-St Michael’s Tce, and barrier and rumble strips at St Corban’s National School.

The town engineer says the whole programme will be completed by the end of April.

Cllr Charlie Byrne has congratulated the town engineer on the works being done on the Ballymore Road and expresses surprise because some weeks ago he had been told that they were 'not possible'. Meanwhile, Naas Town Council has provided 30 car parking spaces to facilitate families attending the new playground and pitches in Monread District Park.
