2002
We are pleased to report that since our first update of
15th April 2002, the Building Project is advancing, according
to plan. The size and volume of the Building, is more obvious
to everyone, and can be easily noticed on the skyline as
one comes in the Dublin Road, and Sallins Road.
The current state of progress is as follows :
- All concrete and steel structure is complete
- Main Roof to Theatre is complete
- Internal Block Walls - complete
- Roof to Exhibition space - complete
- Large structural opes to Existing Building - complete
- New stairwell to existing building - Blockwork walls complete
- Main structural steel to support stage rigging - complete
- Mechanical Installation: Main Air Handling Ducts going
in; Boiler is on site, Air Handling units are in plant room.
- Electrical Installation : Main cable trays, ducts are
in place; hard wiring to begin shortly.
- Existing Building : New infill floors to First Floor -
complete
- External plastering : works have commenced.
Whereas the programme is still behind by around 15 days,
due to inclement weather, the Contractor is still hoping
to complete by the finishing date in December 2002.
Future progress in the next two months should be :
- External Walls - plastered.
- Stone Facing to Shop Unit
- Windows and Doors to Shop Unit
- Internal Walls to Existing Building ( Dressing Rooms,
Rehearsal Rooms, Foyer etc.)
- More Mechanical & Electrical Installation
- New Storage Areas in Basement finished.
MOAT THEATRE BUILDING UPDATE- JANUARY 2003
The Theatre Building is now 2 weeks away from being handed
over to the Moat Club.
The following works are now completed :
- External Paving
- Plastering
- Electrical
- Plumbing & Heating
- Sanitary Fittings
- Painting - 95% complete
- Retractable seating
- External Art Piece ( Moat Theatre sign)
The works remaining to be finished are :
- Bar Counter & Ticket Desk areas
- Handrails to stairs
- Internal signage
- Final coat of paint all round
- Theatre Fit Out
- Kitchen Fit Out
The Moat Club Committee had a tour of the Building earlier this week, and seemed
very impressed with the standard of facilities being provided.
We are still sourcing a Theatre Manager after a few hiccups
on the road, and expect to make a decision very shortly.
We are also eagerly awaiting a decision from Naas Town
Council in relation to an additional funding application,
made to them in November 2002. We expect some news on this
issue within the next 10 days.
At this exciting time, it must be remembered how vital,
continuing fundraising is to the ultimate success of this
project and we would remind everyone to support the Car
Draw, which is now getting a renewed push. The fundraising
must continue in order to pay off our Bank Loan, and all
members, past members, friends, and supporters are asked
to get involved in selling tickets ( €10 each), or
by buying tickets and encouraging others to do likewise.
