Athy Joint Policing Committee extend special welcome
This Tuesday (22nd of October, 2013) six representatives of Italy's Associazone Giancarlo Siani will visit Athy specifically to look at how the various agencies in the town interact with Gardai in order to further local policing.
The visit has arisen from a conference in Naples in July where Sergeant Tom Harte, Athy Garda Station gave a presentation on local policing in Athy, which was accepted by Associazone Giancarlo Siani as a model which could be transferred to Italy.
The idea behind the conference was to look at how policing practices in one country could be replicated in another European country.
