Vee Fans get ready for the Dunlop Formula Vee Festival

Mondello Park this Saturday and Sunday

Ireland's Formula Vee Fans are preparing for their biggest weekend of the season as they get ready for the Dunlop Irish Formula Vee Festival at Mondello Park this Saturday and Sunday (July 12th & 13th). Promoted by the Irish Formula Vee Association and organised by the County Kildare Motor Club the festival will once again be run in support of the LauraLynn foundation.

The programme for the weekend includes two days of Formula Vee racing, an auction and barbecue on Saturday night in aid of LauraLynn, displays of classic VW cars from Eircooled and the Shamrock Car & Machinery Club and a supporting cast of Irish Championship Races.

As part of the promotion of the event, and due to the support of Dunlop, the Formula Vee Association are offering reduced price admission of just €10 per car, which along with the proceeds of the auction will go to LauraLynn, making this event a very cost effective way to catch some of Ireland's most exciting motor racing while supporting a very worthwhile charity. In addition anyone arriving in an air-cooled VW car will be admitted free of charge.

A total of eight Formula Vee races will be run over the two days starting with the championship encounters on Saturday. The festival will then kick into action on Sunday, with three heats followed by two semi-finals and the final.

Following qualifying on Saturday morning the grids for the Crowne Plaza Dundalk Formula Vee championship races will be decided. The times from Saturday's qualifying will also be used to determine the line-up for the Festival heats on Sunday with an additional qualifying session on Sunday morning for Festival only competitors.

Three heats on Sunday will decide the grids for two semi finals with the top fourteen drivers form each semi making it through to the final. To spice up what already promises to be a very close fought affair a number of the top grid positions for the final will be reversed and that number will be decided by a draw just minutes before the grid is formed.

Alongside the Formula Vee races there will be a full supporting programme of Irish Championship and 'Champion of Mondello' races made up of Boss Ireland, Yokohama ITCC, Patch Fiestas, Mick's Garage Formula Sheane, Mondello Park GT's, Historics and Ginetta Junior Ireland.

Admission to the Irish Formula Vee festival is just €10 per car with up to five people. Spectators can also support the events nominated charity by purchasing a souvenir event programme. For those who can't make it to Mondello Park, Sunday's races will be broadcast live on Mondello.TV which will include information on how you can support the events nominated charity from home.
