Exciting Oppurtunity for Kildare Secondary Students!

Secondary School students in Kildare are invited to an event by the Irish Second-Level Students' Union (ISSU) to give students a voice on national issues and promote student activism

The Irish Second-Level Students' Union (ISSU) are the Umbrella body for all student councils in Ireland and represents students voices at a national level.

Every year the hold regional council events for the different regions in Ireland. Every secondary school student in Ireland is welcome to attend their regional council. The Kildare-Wicklow regional council will take place on the 15th of October at Liberty Hall in Dublin City.

School students can register to attend the event here . At the event they are representing their school, so it is advised that student council members attend. However, this is not cumpolsory.

The day will consist of various discussions and debates around Climate Action, Education Reform and Alcohol and Drug misuse around teens.

This is also a fantastic way for school students to get more aware of the world around them and issues that affect them. As well as to get more involved in the most student-led organisation in the country.

Eiman Elsir, 16, from Celbridge, Kildare attended her regional council 2 years ago and is now on the ISSU National Student Executive as Communications Officer.

She says 'Since attending my Regional Council in 2017, I've become so much more aware of issues that affect me and I've been taking more active steps to try and ensure a future Ireland I'm happy to live in. Serving on the NSE [National Student Executive] I've met so many young people who are ready to create change in Ireland. We run campaigns that directly influence young people across the country. The fact that the entire organisation is run for students, by students means we represent the voice of the future of Ireland.'
