'Sustaining the Arts' Award for Kildare County Council

Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards.

Kildare County Council have won the 'Sustaining the Arts' Award at the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards. The winning project was the 1916 Sackville Street Art Project. The 13th annual Awards ceremony was held in association with the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government and showcases and celebrates the best of Local Government in Ireland.

North Kildare Chamber were the nominating Chamber for Kildare County Council.  Vivian Cummins, President of the Chamber said, “The Excellence in Local Government Awards demonstrate how each year Local Authorities work consistently to deliver services and initiatives that sustain, enhance and support our communities and local economies. I  congratulate Kildare County Council and the team in the council who made the 1916 Sackville Street Project such a great success and which went on to gain national recognition and was a particular favourite with the Irish public.”

In presenting the awards Minister for the Housing and Urban Renewal, Damien English TD commented, “It is essential that local authorities showcase their good performance – both to recognise their achievements and encourage further improvement in the services they deliver to local communities. I’m delighted to be associated with the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2016 and very grateful to Chambers Ireland for their valuable work in this area.”   

Allan Shine, CEO of the Chamber said “The Chamber enjoy an excellent working relationship with Kildare County Council and we were delighted to be the nominating organisation.  This award showcases the excellent work that is carried out by the Local Authority.”
