Jessica and Ronan O'Gara to promote event

Style and sport icons Jessica and Ronan O’Gara have been announced as this year’s ambassadors for Longines Irish Champions Weekend. Jessica and Ronan will both promote the event across the summer and will be attending the weekend with family and friends.

Longines Irish Champions Weekend brings together two iconic Irish race meetings at Leopardstown and the Curragh on one weekend in September. Now in its third year, it is the first leg of a European Triple Crown of championship race meetings ahead of the QATAR Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp and QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot.

The weekend combines entertainment, history, glamour, excitement and prestige at Ireland’s premier racecourses, Leopardstown and the Curragh, on September 10th and 11th.

Longines Irish Champions Weekend has added significantly to Ireland’s reputation in the global thoroughbred industry and it attracts some of the Europe’s finest horses to compete for a share of the overall prize-fund of €4.5m. In 2015, the event produced no fewer than six European Champions, of which two were World Champions.

Ronan O’Gara, Sport Ambassador for Longines Irish Champions Weekend said:

"Sport at this level is particularly exhilarating so it is a pleasure for me to be the Sport Ambassador this year for Longines Irish Champions Weekend. Everyone knows that I love the sport of racing so to travel home to Ireland with Jessica for the weekend will be very special."

Across the weekend racegoers will have the chance to win prizes in excess of €25,000 as part of the Longines Prize for Elegance.

The prizes feature shopping experiences from Ireland’s elite fashion houses, including Louise Kennedy, Louis Copeland and Kildare Village as well as a luxury stay at The Merrion hotel. Title sponsor, Longines, will also gift the winners each day with an elegant timepiece from their latest collection.

Jessica O’Gara, Style Ambassador for Longines Irish Champions Weekend said:

"Horse racing in Ireland is always a really enjoyable experience and is especially a great occasion to dress elegantly, and to feel good and confident. I have loved horses from a young age so I am delighted to be the Style Ambassador for this year's Longines Irish Champions Weekend. I am looking forward to seeing all the style and elegance on show in September."
