Farewell
to Catherine
Here we are now after three years in Newbridge,
the first Clubhouse in Ireland, and the first to be accredited
by the ICCD. Our Manager (Director) Catherine has decided to move
on to another challenge.
On
behalf of Platinum Clubhouse we wish you well in your new career.
Good luck.
Good
luck also to Mary as she heads off on Maternity Leave. We hope
things work out for you, and can’t wait for you to come back,
we miss you already.

THINGS
I’VE DONE.
Moaning
and groaning,
Sleeping and snoring,
All part of life, do you see?
Eating and drinking,
Hearing and seeing,
Some features based upon me.
Betting
and gambling,
Winning not losing,
Really are only rumours,
Laughing and crying,
Being happy and sad,
To me are different humours.
Running
and walking,
Cycling and jogging,
Things that I do with my feet,
Being tired and restless,
Drowsy and confused,
I think I’ll doze off in my seat.
These
are the things I’ve done in my life,
No matter how well or ill I was,
But one thing I could never do,
Is break the rules and laws.

WIND
Winds
blow, winds sway the trees.
The sound of the wind, the sound of the bees.
Strong winds, gentle winds, silent winds that blow.
Where the wind starts, nobody will know.

Catering
News
What’s
new in the Kitchen? Well it’s probably me actually. Siobhra’s
the name and I’m the new kid in the kitchen. My last job was
as a beauty-therapist, so this is a total change. But, as anyone
who has ever visited Platinum Clubhouse.
Will know we, have a large industrial kitchen with the best
of equipment making it that much easier to get around.
The
hardest thing is trying to judge how much meat to defrost, as
you don’t know exactly how many people will be in for lunch
until 10:30 the following morning. But nobody has gone hungry
yet!!!
There
is no shortage of help in the kitchen. Ray C is showing a lot
of pasta potential (roll on lasagne!!) and Anna, one of our
new members, is fast building up for a reputation as the scone
maestro.
All
the dinners have turned out well so far, some a little too well
done, but, isn’t that how us Irish like it? And girls, remember
food can be good for the skin. Certain foods are used in the
most expensive cosmetics. Tea bags really are good for tired
puffy eyes. More beauty tips to come, watch this space!!! Anyway
here is a recipe to die for. Try it out.
Recipe
Of the Month
Apple
Sponge Pudding
You
will need:
4
apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
125 g / 4 oz sugar
60
ml / 4 tablespoons water
5 ml / 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon rind
2.5 ml / ½ teaspoon ground cloves
Topping:
2
eggs
2.5 ml / ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
50 g / 2 oz castor sugar
50 g / 2 oz self-raising flour sifted
Pinch of salt
15 ml / 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
Put
the apples, sugar, water, lemon rind, and cloves in a saucepan
and simmer until the apples are tender. Transfer the mixture
into a well-greased pie dish.
To
make the topping, beat the eggs and vanilla essence together,
and then beat in the sugar. Fold in the flour and salt. Pour
over the apple mixture and sprinkle the brown sugar on top.
Put
into a preheated oven at moderate (180º C / 350º F or Gas Mark
4) and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the topping is golden
brown and firm. Serves 4.

A
few words from Bob.
A
stitch in time saves nine. The kettle always boils once there
is water in the tap. The early bird catches the worm. A rolling
stone gathers no moss. If you fall off that wall and break
your leg, don’t come running to me. Close your mouth when
you are talking to me. You can’t toss a coin in the air.
Jokes
And Gags
A man went to the doctor and said:
Doctor, Doctor, I am seeing double.
The Doctor replied: Please take a chair.
The man asks: Which one Doc?
Patient
to doctor: Doctor, Doctor, I think I only have 20 seconds
to live.
Doctor: I’ll be with you in a minute.
Man
to Doctor: I think I’m an egg.
Doctor said: Don’t crack up here.
How
would you know a Kerryman’s dog?
He’s the one chasing parked cars.

Recent
News Stories
Music:
Eninem
won 4 awards for his comtribution to music.
It was Michael Jackson's birthday. He has reached the age of 44.
And he got a milliennium award for his outstanding music. He looks
well for his age. He should have been Weather Forecast man because
he changes like the weather.
Films:
Clint Eastwood is making a new folm called West Blood.
It's his first film in ages is also making another one. He is
72 now and as he is getting on in years, he is going behind the
camera for the future.
Sport:
New Zealand won the tri-nations Rugby competitions. Phil Taylor
became the first dart player to finish a set with 9 darts.
The Ryder Cup will be held in Ireland for the first time this
year and it should be very good one because America won the last
one. The European team didn't think the crowed played fair. Why?
Because it was held over in America so the European team will
want to go out and prove a point to the Americans that fire dosen't
strike twice and go out and win it.
Its Formula one time on Sunday in Belgium. Michael Schumacher
is going for his 10th win of the season. As I know something about
racing I will foretell that Rubens Barracello will come first,
Michael will come second with Kimi Rakkinen coming third. The
reason I think Rubens will win is because Micheal will help him
and Ferrari to compete a hat trick of wins.
See
you on Monday to tell you the results!
Andrew
