The  An Taisce Green School Flag Award Ceremony took place in the Helix, DCU, Dublin on Monday, May 20th, 2014. Many schools from Co. Kildare were honoured for their Green School achievements. Our school was presented with the 6th Green School Flag, the "Home-School Award". We have already received the 5 flags for our work in areas of Litter and Waste, Energy, Water, Travel and Biodiversity.

Mr. Costello, Miss Fennelly, and 2 senior pupils, Samantha and Sarah, represented our school at the award ceremony. They were delighted to be honoured with the 6th Green School Flag at such a high level. This is a great achievement for St. Evin's School as we have all been involved in Green School Initiatives for many years. Congratulations to all our pupils, especially the Green School Committee.

Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment.

St. Evin's School is a Green School.

We have previously been awarded 5 Green School Flags for completion of each strand of the environmental programme.

1. Litter & Waste  2. Energy  3. Water   4. Travel   5. Biodiversity

The programme is co-ordinated by Mrs. Houlihan with the assistance of pupils from each class who are nominated to the Green School Committee.
