Re:  School Access.

  Dear Parents/Guardians,

As always, we encourage you to ensure that your child arrives to school on time each day.

We ask that you carefully note the following points which will help to ensure that all access to our school is properly monitored and supervised. It will also help minimise classroom disruption, maximise teaching/learning time and enable effective communication between home and school.

·         If late for school and whether accompanied or unaccompanied, all pupils should make their way to the main door of the school in order to gain entry.

·         Once admitted through the main door, pupils may make their own way to their classroom. This will help significantly to minimise classroom disruption and ensure that pupils are gaining the maximum benefit from their teaching/learning time in school.

·         While we continue to promote communication between home and school, discussions/meetings with teachers at classroom doors are actively discouraged as it means that pupils cannot be adequately supervised and no privacy is afforded to parent, teacher or pupil.

·         If you need to speak with a member of staff, please contact the school by telephone or in writing and make an appointment to do so at a time that is suitable for all.

·         If you need to collect your child early from school please come to the main door and speak with the secretary so that this arrangement can be accommodated.

·         If parents/guardians wish to drop in lunch boxes, sports gear or other items during the day, these may be given to the school secretary so as to keep classroom interruptions to a minimum.

In anticipation of your continued co-operation,

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Declan Costello.
