Autumn Update and Diary Dates

by PTAadmin on November 25, 2018

The Annual Careers Night on Thursday 14th November was a resounding success. To all the Colleges and Educational Institutes, and adults who volunteered of their time, a big thank you from all of us, and especially from the more than 220 students who attended. It was a really atmospheric evening and there is no doubt your contributions have helped our students with their career research. Thank you.

Diary Dates

Wednesday 28th November 2018: Study Skills: A Talk for Parents/Guardians.  Parents/Guardians of all Junior Cycle Classes are invited to come along to a presentation by Ray Langan of Raysing the Game. It takes place in the School Assembly Hall, 7.30 pm. Ray comes highly recommended, have a look at his web site, really encourage you to come along and join us on the evening and see for yourself.

Now – Wednesday 5th December: Election for Female Parent/Guardian Representative on the Board of Management for Maynooth Post Primary School.

If your child/children is/are attending Maynooth Post Primary School they will have brought a letter from school explaining the procedure for election, and two ballot papers. Make sure you have your say in this election and have your ballot returned on-time. Closing Date to Return Your Ballot Papers: Wednesday 5th December in the provided envelope, on or before 4 pm.

Thursday 13th December: Christmas Concert

The annual, and always enjoyable, MEC Christmas Concert will take place 13th December in the Sports Hall, 7.30pm. This is a really special night, launching the Christmas Season  and showcasing the spectacular talent of the campus community. We will be playing our part, not on stage, but serving Mulled Wine and Mince Pies at a pre-concert reception. Put this date in your diary and come along, you’re guaranteed to leave full of the festive spirit

Saturday 8th December 2018 and Saturday 12th January 2019: Fundraising for the MEC Musical

There is a buzz around the campus as momentum gathers for the annual musical production. This year we will be treated to Grease. To support the musical there are a few targeted fundraising ventures. You will see the Children from TY bag-packing in Dunnes (8th December) and Tesco (12th January) to help with the finances of the musical.  All support you can offer them will be appreciated.

Voluntary Contributions: You will have received a mail inviting you to make a contribution to the MECPTA. You may well ask, What do we do with the money? Our activities are many and varied, but they all focus on supporting events on the campus. The events mentioned in this update, catering for the adult volunteers at the Careers Evening, hosting the Christmas Concert Reception, and contributing to the running costs of the Annual Musical School Musical, are typical examples of what we do. To all of you who have contributed already, Thank you. We appreciate all contributions.
