The Community Environment Action Fund (previously the Environment Partnership Fund/Local Agenda 21 grant)

The minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment wishes to announce the 2019 Community Environment Action Fund.

Funding from the department for this scheme nationally was increased to €460,000 in recent years. the minister is pleased to announce that this increased level of funding will be maintained in 2019 and €460,000 will again be made available from the department for 2019 (€36,800 for Kildare in total). As in previous years, all applications for funding will be assessed by local authorities.

The closing date for applications to the council is 5 p.m. on 27th september 2019.

Projects funded under this scheme should be commenced as soon as practicable. completion reports for the projects must be returned by the projects to the council by end august 2020.

Eligible projects should support and complement national environmental policies such as those on waste, biodiversity, climate change, air, water, sustainable development, etc.

The minister has asked that priority be given to climate and biodiversity projects in the 2019 scheme. A wide variety of projects and schemes have been supported under the fund in previous years including, for example, community gardens, allotments and compost schemes, rainwater conservation schemes, educational initiatives and environmental exhibitions. A list of previously funded projects can be viewed online http://dccae.gov.ie/enie/environment/topics/environmental-protection-and-awareness/local-agenda-21-partnership-fund/
