Loan Accounts

In the current financial environment, lots of people are having difficulties paying their bills.  If you are in experiencing difficulties paying your Kildare County Council mortgage or feel that you will have difficulties because of impending changes in your circumstances, the best thing you can do is to talk to us.

Kildare County Council has a dedicated Arrears Support Unit. If you are in a pre-arrears situation, that is, if you know your circumstances will deteriorate, you should also make contact. Circumstances such as impending redundancy, reduced working hours, reduced wage rates, unexpected life events etc can impact negatively on your income. If you know you will potentially fall into arrears,  talk to us in advance.

If you have fallen into arrears, get in touch straight away. Ignoring the problem won’t make it go away.

Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process

The Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process (MARP) is a process to help support mortgage borrowers who are in arrears, or at risk of going into arrears.  We have a dedicated team in our Arrears Support Unit that will work with borrowers.

If you are deemed to be eligible for the process, we will work with you to bring you through the process in order to try to get the best solution to address your arrears situation.  For further information, please see the Borrower Information Booklet.  To contact our Arrears Support Unit, please phone: (045) 980652 or email: Loans@kildarecoco.ie

Mortgage Protection Insurance

It is a mandatory requirement of Kildare County Council that all applicants qualify for and have the approved Local Authority Mortgage Repayment Protection Plan (MRPP) Group Insurance Scheme in place before a loan can be issued.

The Mortgage Protection Insurance (MPI) Scheme for Local Authority Borrowers provides Life Cover for new borrowers when purchasing their home.

Cornmarket administers the Scheme on behalf of the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) and the Scheme is underwritten by New Ireland.

For Application Forms or to view the policy see https://kildarecoco.ie/Forms/Finance/

Warning:

If you do not keep up your repayments you may lose your home. The cost of your monthly repayments may increase.

If you do not meet the repayments on your loan, your account will go into arrears. This may affect your credit rating, which may limit your ability to access credit in the future.

You may have to pay charges if you pay off a fixed-rate loan early.
