Concert in The Long Gallery at Castletown House

In this significant year, the County Kildare Orchestra will perform several Irish compositions, including Cath Fionn Tra, written for its inaugural concert by Irish composer Rachel Holstead and the premier of Laochra na Casca 1916, a composition by well-known Dublin musician, Paddy Scalett. 

The programme will also include works by Borodin and Katchaturina. Their reperatoire spans the great musical eras, from Baroque (Bach and Handel), the Classical (Mozart and Beethoven) to the Romantics (Sibelius, Rachmaninov, Elgar and Lalo). The orchestra has performed movie scores from works by Morricone, Hans Zimmer and Howard Shore to name but a few. 

Having collaborated on several performances of Shackleton's Endurance with renowned composer, whistle player and uilleann piper, Brian Hughes, the County Kildare Orchestra is delighted to be joined by Brian for this very special concert. 

Doors open at 7.30pm, Unreserved seating.
