Agustín Maruri will be enchanting his audience
at the Riverbank with the sound of the Spanish Guitar
on Saturday 12 th June at 8.00pm.
Maruri, who performed in the Riverbank in
June of 2002 is an award winning acclaimed master of the acoustic guitar
and has toured worldwide with his music. He performs works from both
classical and modern composers.
In the recital's programme tonight, he will be performing works ranging
from an 11 th Century Irish March, Six Renaissance Lute Pieces
by Chilesotti, folk pieces by John W Duarte, two pieces by 19 th Century
Catalan composer Jose Vidas and Maurice Ravel's Pavane to
name but a few.
Maruri has given concerts across the world, and has performed in some
of the must illustrious concert venues. He has given masterclasses as
invited Professor at the Royal Irish Academy of Music ,
the Cork School of Music , the New
Delhi School of Music and the Peking Superior
Conservatory .
In 1999, Maruri began a series of recordings for the Metropolitan Museum
of Art in New York, using the original historical instruments from the
Museum's collection.
