The eagerly awaited Beezneez Theatre Company Production of John
McDwyer’s new play, Callaghan’s Place, comes to the
Riverbank Arts Centre as part of a fifteen venue, forty-performance
tour that includes a week-long residency at the Upstairs Theatre,
Highgate, London, UK. It is the biggest tour in the history of
the company and reflects the esteem in which Beezneez is now held.
Callaghan’s Place, which is a sister play for the author’s
hugely successful Lovely Leitrim, tells the story of what happens
when the bachelor Callaghan brothers die and a stranger comes to
live in their small holding. Paul and Mary Dolan, already trying
to come to terms with the fact that their only child is finishing
school and leaving the area, are disturbed by the arrival of the
Englishman and events end tragically when trust breaks down. Holding
a watch on events are Pat Kelly and Annie Jackson, neighbours who
have their own stories within the play.
Directed by the author and featuring well-known actors in Peter
Davey, Michael Roper, Tom Walsh and Noreen Hawkins, Beeznees are
confident that Callaghan’s Place, will find the same response
as Lovely Leitrim, and for that reason early bookings is essential.
