Des Egan is an internationally acclaimed poet with 16 collections of poetry which have been translated into a dozen languages. He has received the acclamation of international audiences as far afield as the US where he has received several major awards including the National Poetry Foundation of USA Award. Critics say of the County Kildare poet, “Egan will yet succeed to an enduring, honoured and unique place in world literature.” |
Gearóid Ó hAllmuráin, with several All-Ireland competitive titles on the concertina and uilleann pipes to his credit, is a class act from start to finish! Ó hAllmuráin’s playing keeps traditional music alive and thriving through the generations. Both his recent CD, ‘Traditional Music from Clare and Beyond,” and his book, “A History of Traditional Irish Music,”, are meeting with rave reviews. He is the Jefferson Smurfit Corporation Professor of Irish Studies and a Professor of Music at the University of Missouri, St Louis. |
This is not the first time that the two artists have joined forces to entertain an audience with words and music. In 1999, Des and Gearóid performed together at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in South Florida.
