Literary works of Kildare poets re-published
The Teresa Brayton Heritage Group in Kilcock would
like to invite you and your friends to the launch of the book In an
Irish Twilight A selection of the poetry and short stories of Kildare
poet and literary nationalist Teresa Brayton (1868-1943) author of
The Old Bog Road. The launch by Michael Minogue will take place in
the Clubhouse, Branganstown, Kilcock on Friday
next December 6th @ 8.30pm
The book contains over sixty poems and three short stories
taken from her books Songs of the Dawn (1913) The Flame of Ireland
(1926 )Christmas Verses (1934) and manuscripts held at The Teresa
Brayton Memorial Library in Kilcock.
The original words of the famous ballad The Old Bog Road (1913) and
other poems relating to the exile’s nostalgic loss of homeland,
her keen observations of Irish history/patriotic tributes, nature
and the environment, counties of Ireland and Christmas verses are
among the many works included.
It was compiled by Kilcock Librarian Bernadette Gilligan. Photographs
and original manuscripts are re-published with kind permission of
The Local Studies Section Kildare County Library and Arts. The Introduction
is by Olive Morrin, Secretary of the Heritage Group, with illustrations
by the artist Kevin Simms.

for €5)
