Mary Coughlan Live at The Riverbank Friday 19th
April 2002 at 8.00 pm
Mary Coughlan plays
a one-night only gig at the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge on
Friday 19th of April next. Mary
rose as if from nowhere, a housewife and mother of three who, at 29,
began singing publicly. She immediately won a following with her first
two albums: Tired and Emotional and Under the Influence. Revered by
fans and critics, both in her native Ireland and throughout Europe,
with After The Fall,
Mary
celebrated her triumph over lowpoints in her career and personal life.
Underpinning all of this is her instinct for survival
and her love of the power of song. Such personal intensity and blues-tinged
optimism infuses her singing. As the U.K.s Q Magazine stated, "Mary
Coughlan sings with a hard intelligence which binds spells."
And, according to Mojo magazine, "she has a voice to kill for."
