by ehistoryadmin on March 16, 2017

Kill History Group

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the historic Fenian Rising of 1867 in which local man John Devoy was very much involved. To mark the occasion, the Kill History Group will be assembling at the John Devoy memorial, on the Kill-Johnstown road on the evening of Monday 27th March at 8 p.m. In doing so they will be recreating a gathering which took place 50 year ago (in 1967) to mark the unveiling of the memorial itself. Afterwards the group will adjourn to the Parish Meeting Room for a talk by guest speaker, Mr Michael Kenny, formerly of the National Museum of Ireland, about the Fenian movement and the ill-fated Rising of 1867.

As always, admission is free and everyone is welcome.
