Policing in Ireland Talk and Exhibition on Saturday 22 October
The County Kildare Federation of Local History Groups is holding their Annual Seminar/A.G.M. in Kilcullen Heritage Centre this Saturday 22 October. The agenda has been circulated to member groups.
The centenary since the foundation of the Garda Síochána in 1922 is the theme of this year’s Seminar. An exhibition of Garda memorabilia (from 11AM) and a talk by historian Jim Herlihy on ‘Policing Ireland in 1922’ (12PM) will be preceded by serving members of An Garda Síochána marching from Kilcullen Barracks to the Town Hall.
All welcome to this free community event, supported by the Kildare County Council Decade of Commemorations Programme and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Sports, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Decade of Centenaries 2012-23 initiative.
