REMEMBERING 1920: WAR, POLITICS AND SPORT (MAYNOOTH UNIVERSITY CONFERENCE)

Maynooth University is holding a special virtual conference ‘Remembering 1920: War, Politics & Sport’ on Saturday 25 September 2021 as part of their Decade of Commemorations Programme.
This free event starts at 10AM and the line-up is:
  • ‘The Events of Bloody Sunday, 21 November 1920’ by Declan Brady
  • ‘Exhibiting Bloody Sunday, 21 November 1920, at Croke Park GAA Museum’ by Julieanne McKeigue
  • ‘Local Reverberations of Bloody Sunday: The Case of County Longford’ by Marie Coleman
  • ‘The Cuban Missive Crisis of 1920: Havana, Washington, Dublin, London’ by Darragh Gannon
This free conference concludes with a plenary lecture at 14:30 by Gearóid Ó Tuathaigh ‘Sport in a Time of War: Ireland 1919-1921’.
Attendance is free, though spaces are limited so early registration is advised. Please email 1920conference@mu.ie to register.
