Saturday 24th September - Autumn Festival



Racegoers will have the opportunity to meet representatives from a variety of ownership groups during the weekend, while Saturday will feature an expert panel featuring a variety of participants from across the racing industry will share insights and talk about the benefits of horse ownership, from 11.30am to 12.30pm, before the first race at 1.05pm.

All owners who hold an active AIR cards will gain free admission on 24 Sept

SMURFIT BERESFORD STAKES (GROUP 2)
The Beresford is the final Group 2 for two-year-olds in Ireland each season. It has regained and held Group 2 status since 2003 and it has produced a host of top class performers over the last 20 years. Since 2000 it was has been won by nine subsequent Group 1 winners which include the English classic winners Saxon Warrior and Sea The Stars, the Irish Derby winners Alamshar and Capri and the outstanding middle distance runner Azamour.

WELD PARK STAKES (GROUP 3)

The last pattern race for two-year-old fillies in the Irish calendar, this race commemorates Dermot Weld’s parents Charlie and Marguerite and it has been run at the Curragh since 1991. The race has produced a number of subsequently top class fillies and both Imagine and Qualify went on to win the following year’s Epsom Oaks after victory in this race. The likes of Ridgewood Pearl, Alborada and Trusted Partner are other previous winners who have gone on to Group 1 success as three-year-olds. 2018 winner Hermosa went on to land the English and Irish 1000 Guineas.
