The Tour is a walk with Newtown Community Group in the village to a penal mass house - onto the old school house, talking about the execution of 3 men, then a walk into the graveyard to look at the tomb of Rev. Dr. Murphy
To discuss how a pre existing common led to the construction of mudwall cabins.
A Mass-house that was constructed was replaced by two other Churches successively in the 19th/20th centuries.
The next leg at the Old School house and the history of education in the area.
Then onto '1798' monument. It will detail Revolution.
The events that led to the trial and execution of three individuals from the village in 1795 and the consequences.
The next leg in Newtown Cemetery - Rev Dr Murphy's Tomb
