Written and Performed by Brendan MacQuaile.

From his humble background in the liberties, Larry tells us in his own words and popular song, how he shipped out to Flanders in time for the Christmas Truce of 1914.

The singing, the hardships of the trenches and the sheer terror of ‘going over the top’ are all part of his extraordinary story.

Lawrence Kelly was later killed at Passchendaele, and, while his body was never found, his name lives on inscribed on the Menin Gate with 58,000 Great War soldiers who were never found.
