Darren Donohue

Darren is an award-winning Irish playwright and poet originally from Newbridge, Co. Kildare. His plays have been presented in Dublin, London, Edinburgh, Barcelona, Milan, Prague, Perth, Baltimore, Washington DC and New York.

He worked extensively with the Abbey Theatre, Fishamble, and Rough Magic Theatre Company. Recent achievements include: his play I and the Village won the Bread and Roses Playwriting Award, 2020 and will be published and produced in London, March 2021. His play, Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks won the Radius Playwriting Award 2020, and is currently nominated for the Nick Darke Award. He won the Dennis O Driscoll Literary Award 2020 and he’s currently developing new work with Asylum Theatre Company.

Darren was writer-in-residence at Carlow College in 2019 and at the Science Gallery, Trinity College, 2020. His plays are published by the Irish Theatre Institute, Associacio Catalana Perpetuum Mobile, Stagescripts UK, Bread and Roses Theatre and New Island Drama.
