Award-winning writer John was born in Castledermot, Co. Kildare. He is the author of nineteen books including Clare; The Last Fine Summer; The Space Between Us, ten stage plays, including Who By Fire; Breathless; Lucinda Sly; Corner Boys; Sergeant Pepper and Redemption Song, a poetry collection, Where Sadness Begins; four radio plays, and is a frequent and hugely popular contributor to Sunday Miscellany on RTÉ. He has voiced more than a hundred TV documentaries and has toured widely with Mend & Makedo Theatre Co.
John’s Barrow Trilogy (Director: Angela Keogh) began with Lucinda Sly in 2014/15, continued with Corner Boys in 2016 and concluded with The Mental in 2018. His collection of radio essays, I Knew This Place, was published in 2020 and his Selected Short Stories will be published in July 2021.
