Stories for the Ear. 1916 - Applications Invited

Closing date: Friday 3rd June 2016 at 5pm

Kildare County Council Arts Service invites applications from writers (aged 12+) living in or from County Kildare, to submit a short story to be included in ‘Stories for the Ear. 1916’. The competition will be open to all writers in Kildare, including anyone who has featured in a collection previously.
 
Theme: 1916
 
Successful applicants: Short listed authors will be invited to work with curator Neil Donnelly to refine and edit their story to best fit the medium of spoken word.
 
Launch: Stories for the Ear. 1916 will be launched at the Kildare Readers Festival (Dates TBC)
 
Word count: 1500 – 2000  words or 7-10 minutes when spoken / performed. 
 

The sixth volume of this successful project is an audio showcase of writers from County Kildare. Volume 1 - 5 can be listened to via the link below

Successful writers will:

  • Have their story professionally recorded in the Platform4 Audio and Digital Media Studio
  • Receive a once off payment of €120 for having their story included.
  • Have their work showcased on the Kildare Arts Service Website www.kildare.ie/artsservice and Kildare Arts Service’s Youtube channel

 
How to apply:
Please email (preferred option) or post a copy of your short story (Please include your name, phone number and email in the document) to Eoghan Doyle in the Arts Service at the address below, along with a biography and picture of yourself and your contact information.
