Kildare County Council has published its draft Litter Management Plan 2020-2023 and commenced a period of public consultation.
The draft plan has been prepared for the prevention and control of litter in the county area setting out appropriate objectives and targets for the three year period.
The Litter Pollution Act, 1997 requires all local authorities to take practicable measures for the prevention of the creation of litter in its functional area. Local authorities have a responsibility for the collection and disposal of litter, promotion of awareness of the polluting effects of litter and encouraging participation by persons in preventing and overcoming the effects of litter.
The Plan can be viewed online on the council's website or at any library in the county.
The public is invited to make submissions in writing marked ' Draft Litter Management Plan' to the Senior Executive Officer, Environment Department, Kildare County Council, Aras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or make a submission via consultation portal available on the homepage of the council website. www.kildarecoco.ie
