Burtown House, an early Georgian villa, is surrounded by lush flower, vegetable and woodland gardens with beautiful park and farmland walks. Burtown is one of two houses in Kildare of this era to have never been sold, and has strong ties with the Quaker community of Ballytore.

The gardens at Burtown are made up of several areas, including large herbaceous borders, shrubberies, a rock garden, a yew walk divided by a pergola, a sundial garden, an old orchard, a more formal stable yard garden, a walled organic vegetable garden and a large woodland garden surrounded on all sides by water.

There are wildflower meadows with large sculpture surrounding the gardens, which lead into farm walks, with 20 acre fields of wildflowers, pigs, donkeys and cattle.

The Gallery Cafe is open every Thursday - Sunday serving coffee, tea, homemade cakes and biscuits. We serve scrumptious lunches based on fresh seasonal produce from our organic kitchen garden. Group bookings for garden groups are possible all year round.

There are exhibitions of paintings, photography and sculpture, and a shop selling homemade foods, preserves, soaps, paintings, prints, hand blown glass and jewellery. There is also a large plant sales.
