ATHY URBAN COUNCIL.
THE PROPOSED AUTOMOBILE RACE.
The Clerk read the circular, the terms of which have been
already published in connection with the holding of an automobile race
in Ireland stating the advantages which must accrue from it and requesting
the co-operation of the Council in the matter.
The chairman said they should facilitate the promoters of
the race in every way consistent with the safety of the public and the
safety of the traffic of the country. They wanted to have some money
spent in the country and if people from the Continent and elsewhere came
for amusement we should facilitate that in every way.
Mr. Duncan: I have great pleasure in proposing that we approve of this bill suggested to be passed and that the Council give every facility we can to secure that the race be held in this country.
Mr. Murphy seconded. They should encourage the race by all the means in their power towards having it held in this country. It would cause a lot of money to be spent to which he was sure they had no objection.
The proposition was passed.
