St Kevin’s GFC

The intermediate team have played three matches so far in their league with a good win against Ardclough and although having been beaten by Clane and Sarsfields played very well in both games. The second teams league began on Monday 17th with a one point win over Kill in a closely contested game.

Our Minor team have only been defeated once in their league and will play in the playoffs later in the Summer.

Having succeeded in forming a ladies team this year, great credit goes to Bernard Owens for his work. We have a team participating in U/13 schools league with an U/16 team in training on Tuesday nights. New players are always welcome.

A presentation function was held in our clubrooms to mark the U13 teams league win. Medals were presented by Brian Dunne and Niall Carew who have both represented Kildare.

Congratulations go to our four players - John Casey, Niall Carew, Brendan Browne and Colin Ward who have been chosen for the Kildare junior panel. Best of luck also to club PRO Joe Fox on being appointed county junior manager.

A group of approximately 30 players travelled to Bundoran, Co. Donegal for a weekend. They won their game in Donegal and then travelled to Sligo to watch the Kildare senior game. By all accounts a great time was had by all !!! Thanks goes to Brian O Keffe for organising this trip. Our building project is progressing well and fund-raising continues. We have plans to run our Christmas draw again this year on the same format as our previous draw and hopefully with other events taking place during the year.

Irish dancing classes will still continue on a Monday night from 6.30 to 7.30.

Clubrooms always available to all community groups for meetings, and for all family occasions. We are also now open on a Friday night as well as our usual Saturday and Sunday nights.

Our Lotto jackpot now stands at £1700.

All members of St Kevin’s would like to sympathise with the Casey family on the recent loss of our great clubman Jim RIP we would also like to convey our condolences to all parishioners who have been recently bereaved.

St Kevin’s under age

The year 2000 has started off very well for our under age players with all our teams up and running and a trophy won already. Our U14’s won the championship B Feile in St Conleths Park, Newbridge on 15/4/00 defeating our neighbours Na Fianna 6 - 9 to 4 - 5. This was an excellent team performance and great credit must go to the people looking after them. It was also very special for a small club like ours to defeat a parish team with the pick from three clubs. No doubt we will be hearing more about these players in the future. Congratulations to their great mentors; Mark Fitzharris, Frank Kilcoyne and Paddy Sullivan.

U14 Team

Jason Brosnan, Philip Lane, Eric Keating, Pat Cox, Colin Mahony, Philip Reilly, Martin Sheridan, Chris Sheridan, Alan Mitchell, Dermot Brennan, Micheal Kenny, Cormac Noone, Eamon Cosgrove, Kevin Cahill, Ian Mangan, Barry Noone, Jason Gaynor, Francis Kilcoyne, Micheal Fields

Our U16 are also going very well at the moment having lost only one game out of five and have a very good chance of making it to the semi - finals. They defeated Eadstown, Castledermot, Ellistown and Caragh.

Our Schools teams are also up and running and have lost their first couple of games by a very narrow margin. Our schools teams this year despite being very young, do not lack in effort and no doubt their day will come.
