U15s Cup Win 2011

Kilcock Celtic KDUL U15 Cup Final

Kilcock Celtic 5 – Kilcullen 2

Kilcock Celtic Soccer Club gained their second cup victory in a week, when the Under 15 premier side disposed of a gallant Kilcullen team at

Tougher

Park , Newbridge.

Kilcock flew out of the blocks with three goals in fifteen minutes. The first came from the magnificent Jack Healy, with a swift move down the right. Willie Bright put Healy through and he calmly slotted home under the advancing keeper. The second came from the stand-in centre back, Aaron Brilly who normally plays in the forwards. Daragh McArdle swung in a corner which Brilly headed goal wards, this attempt was blocked on the line but the clearance came back to Brilly and he smashed the ball to the roof of the net.

Kilcock were now well on top and gaining in confidence by the minute. The back four of Stephen Logan, Ross Fagan, Conor Sheridan and Brilly were excellent in defence and Kilcullen found it difficult to break through. A few minutes later, Brilly added the third with a superb volley from the edge of the box.

With the wind, rain and occasional sun vying for position halftime came with Kilcock’s Willie Bright and Andy Walsh a constant thorn in the Kilcullen defence with striker Calvin Flanagan also proving a handful in the centre.

Kilcock were first to score in the second half when goalie Cian Mulhall’s long kick out bounced in the Kilcullen 18 yard box and went in off the defender past the advancing keeper. Kilcullen kept fighting and amid a torrential downpour scored.

Mark Malone marshalled the midfield in the first half. Kilcock introduced two subs, Declan Keane and Pablo Garrido. Kilcock remained strong but Kilcullen got another back when they were awarded a penalty for an apparent handball.

With ten minutes to go Kilcock’s finished any thoughts of a come back with their final goal. Healy and McArdle combined to put Conor Sheridan (Capt) clear on the right wing. He whipped in a dangerous cross to the back post which found its way into the top corner of the net. Kilcock enjoyed their first win in this competition having come close on many occasions
