This was a very exciting game, with both teams creating scoring chances from the first to the final whistle.

The home team settled quicker and created the first chance after five minutes. Cathal McCabe collected the ball in the centre of the field and chipped over the advancing home defence to put Ian Mooney free on the left. Mooney whipped in his cross at pace. Neil Vorster got on the end of the cross and his first time shot produced a great save from Eoghan Crotty in goal for the visitors.

The next clear chance fell to Vorster on the twenty minute mark, Dane Hoban won the ball in midfield and found Elliot Fowler on his right, Fowler angled the ball in to Vorster on the edge of the box, and he bore down on goal and slipped the ball past the advancing keeper but the ball rolled past the wrong side of the left upright.

Kills best chance came after twenty five minutes when Brian Coll put a long ball over the home defence and Luke Cumiskey was free on goal only to be denied by the advancing keeper Greg Murphy, the keeper had to leave his area and coolly headed the ball clear and away from danger.

After the break, Kill dominated the opening period. There was some resolute defending from the home defence, with great performances from Daffyd Jones, Adam Leonard, Leon Glennon and Conor Dully denying the visitors any clear cut chances.

Kill’s best chance fell to Luke Cumiskey after fifteen minutes when he shot past the advancing keeper, the ball was goal-bound before Dully headed clear and out for a corner.

Kilcock looked very dangerous on the break and took the lead after fifteen minutes. Following a throw-in in there own half, captain, Evan Comerford released Michael Bambury down the right wing. His volley from just outside the area found the back of the net.

Kill responded well as they tried to create an opening to level the game, but Leon Glennon was magnificent in defence and they snuffed out Kill’s attempts.

Kilcock strengthened midfield with the introduction of Cian McIntyre and Shane O’Brien in an attempt to stem the visitor’s efforts.

The home side always looked dangerous on the counter attach and Shane O’Brien created a great chance for Elliot Fowler. Fowler’s header produced a great save from the visitor’s keeper.

This was a great game to watch. Both teams were evenly matched and all players gave their all.

Kilcock Celtic: Cormac Fallon, Greg Murphy, Cian McIntyre, Conor Dully, Leon Glennon, Adam Leonard, Daffyd Jones, Evan Comerford (captain), Dane Hoban, Elliot Fowler, Cathal McCabe, Ian Mooney, Niel Vorster, Shane O’Brien, Michael Bambury.
