KILCOCK CELTIC CONTINUE START IN DIVISION 4

Newbridge Colts 1 Kilcock Celtic 2

Kilcock Celtic continued their unbeaten start in division for the 2010 season.
This was a close and exciting game played in Coil Dubh on Sunday morning last.
Both teams had chances to score in the first 20 minutes but failed to do so.
However it was Kilcock who opened the scoring just before the break. (see match report section)

Kilcock midfielder Alan O’Brien won a header in the middle of the pitch and this saw the ball land at Eoin Moriarty’s feet who passed to the in-rushing Shane Harris who shot hit the back of the Newbridge Colts net.

In the second half of this game Kilcock had a number of chances to increase their lead but failed to do so.
However as the second half went on Newbridge came into the game and created a number of chances. The Colts were awarded a penalty after 68 minutes when a Celtic defender committed a foul in the box.
The penalty was saved by Kilcock keeper David Staunton to keep the score at 1-0.
Newbridge got back on level terms after 75 minutes when a free kick from the right hand side of the pitch was headed to the back of the Kilcock net by a Newbridge player.
It was Kilcock who had the final say in this match when they got the winner after 80 mins.
Celtic won a corner on the left and Kilcock substitute Keith Gill caused a problem in the Newbridge box and the ball was deflected in the back of the net.
Kilcock held out for the remaining minutes of the game to insure victory.
Best for Kilcock were keeper David Staunton, forwards Shane Harris and Eoin Moriarty
backs Dennis Glesson, midfielders Paul Doran and Chris O’Meara
Kilcock now have two wins and two draws from from games in 2010.
Kilcock Celtic manager Michael Montague spoke to Kilcock.Celtic.ie after the game.
