As part of the modern revised Leaving Certificate history students have the opportunity to undertake a research study in conjunction with their regular examination accounting for 20% of their total marks.

 All Leaving Cert. and Fifth Year History Students are invited to a History seminar to help prepare for their special topic.

It is an ideal opportunity for students to learn valuable tips on how to create a successful project with experienced speakers on hand including, John Dredge from the Dept. of Education, teacher Thomas Nelson and Local Studies Librarian, Mario Corrigan.  John Dredge has responsibility for history teachers and the curriculum so his knowledge and expertise is particularly valuable.

This is the sixth year of the seminar and the emphasis will be on interaction with a chance for students to ask questions and discuss problems they might encounter in choosing and preparing their topic.

            Parents and teachers are also welcome.

To highlight the importance of the seminar Professor Marian Lyons, Head of the History Dept., NUI Maynooth, will give a special address.
