Gallant Sons uses the National Library of Ireland's documents to explore the experiences of some of the Irish soldiers who served in the First World War.

It also tells the stories of some of the families who were left behind: their accounts of their own experiences bring home the huge human cost of the war and tell us something about life between 1914 and 1918.
Over 210,000 Irishmen served in the British Army during the First World War. Nearly 50,000 were killed in action. The exhibition consists of exhibitions stands and discovery box containing hands-on learning materials and activities.
