## Huge Crowds Turn Out as Olympic
Torch Run Passes Through Naas ##
Naas has been chosen to host New Zealand - a team of sixty athletes
and coaches. It will be the responsibility of the Committee to transport,
accommodate, cater, provide sports training, medical support, and
entertainment for the team. The New Zealand Athletes will be competing
in Athletics, Bocce (bowls), Equestrian, Golf, Powerlifting, Swimming,
and Ten Pin Bowling.
Naas
Plans
We see the athletes training in the
morning, relaxation such as swimming, pitch and putt, visiting an
attraction in the afternoon and having a meal and entertainment
in the evening. The programme would apply to the Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday.
The Irish Prison Officers have kindly agreed to look after our guests
for one day and Naas Racecourse have invited our group for the Wednesday
Evening Race Meeting. This should be a memorable evening as we will
be joined by the Japanese, Kenyan, and American Samoa delegations.
We are planning a farewell night on Thursday which we would ask
host families and volunteers to attend. On friday before the team
leaves for the games they will be present when the Torch Run arrives
in Naas.
Progress
At this stage the committee has received terrific supportThe fund
raising schemes have exceeded our target.
