Huge throngs of people lined the street as
a civic reception welcomed the Special Olympics Torch Run
to the town. Music filled the air and athletes and coaches
from New Zealand and Kenya were suitably impressed with
the turn out and the welcome from the citizens of Naas and
its surroundings. School children held aloft flags from
the participating countries and, together with the effort
made by many of the premises on the streets of Naas, created
a great atmosphere for those leaving for Dublin to as the
Games begin tomorrow with the Opening Ceremony at Croke
Park.
