THE VANISHED AND THE VANISHING- RATHANGAN 10 NOVEMBER 2018

The Vanished – features a presentation by Rob Goodbody, historic building consultant, and author of a number of works on Quaker and local history. One hundred years after the Quaker Meeting House in Rathangan was ‘laid down’, this talk will explore the story of Rathangan’s Quaker Community and the legacy of a forgotten people.

The Vanishing – features a presentation by Dr Ciarán O’Reilly NUI Maynooth, author of a number of books on the Great Famine and a history of his native Edenderry.  At a time when Bord na Móna is making a radical shift away from peat production this talk will explore the socio-economic impact of Bord na Móna, looking at how it has altered lives and places across the Midlands.
