However it was Newbridge who opened the scoring after twenty-five minutes when Kilcock failed to clear the ball out of the defence and were punished by visitors who went 1-0 in front.

Kilcock got back on level terms just before the half time break with a great piece of play.
The home keeper kicked the ball out and this was headed by Shane Harris to the on-running Darren Gavin who the passed the ball to forward Eoin O’Muircheartaigh. He calmly picked his spot and sent the ball to the back of the Newbridge net.

Early in the second half, Kilcock began to dominate and took control of proceedings. They went on and scored two goals in the opening fifteen minutes.
A corner from the left by Darren Gavin was met by Dennis Glesson who rose above the defence to fire his headed to the back of the Hotspurs net.
Just before the hour mark Kilcock went 3-1 up when this time a corner from the right was met by Shane Harris whose effort evaded the keeper at hit the net.
It looked like that Kilcock would go on from this and increase their lead, but Newbridge has other ideas and got a goal back with twenty minutes remaining. They were awarded a free just outside the penalty box and they dispatched the ball to the back of the Kilcock net.

Newbridge were now looking for an equaliser but Celtic worked hard to keep them out.
The home team regained their two goal advantage in the ninetieth minute when a long throw from right back James Twohig saw found midfielder Paul Doran who neatly turned and shot the ball to the back of the Newbridge net.

Celtic had a nervous few  final minutes when visitors got a third goal from the penalty spot to make the score 4-3 , but Kilcock held on a hard earned win.

Best for Kilcock were James Twohig, Dennis Glesson,  Paul Farrelly,  Shane Harris

Kilcock Celtic manager Michael Montague reported that he was delighted with this win. This was a hard and close game between two evenly matched teams.
