Low key start by Shinkins

NEWBRIDGE, 19 April 2002: by Arran Hussey. Karen Shinkins, the recent European Indoor bronze medalist over 400 metres, made a low key start to the outdoor season by recording a 51.56 second leg in a recent relay held in America.

The Sea Ray Relays held at the University of Tennessee, from the 10 th to 13 April, saw Shinkins and her Speed Dynamics team well beaten by the South Carolina squad- the latter recording 3 minutes 26.98 seconds to win with Shinkins and co finishing in second place in 3 minutes 31.32 seconds. Her outdoor best, not in a relay, and the national record, is 51.07 seconds.
