This was a cracking game in Mediterranean conditions in Kilcock on Saturday last.
Kilcock started the brighter and set their stall out immediately. Ian Mooney set up the first chance after five minutes when he dribbled past two defenders and sent a lovely cross into the centre of the box. The dropping ball was headed goal-ward by Conor Dully but went just the wrong side of the post.See Match Reports for full story!

Celtic continued to dominate the opening period, with chances falling to Diarmuid Ryan and Leon Glennon. The visitors always looked dangerous on the break and created a great chance in the twentieth minute. Jack Dempsey ran onto a long clearance and crossed into the path of the onrushing Jamie Pollard. Pollard had the goal at his mercy until a vital interception by Celtic’s Niall Walker. A minute later Elliot Fowler made a great double save from town’s Mark Nolan.

The home team opened the scoring on the half hour when Dane Hoban won a free-kick on the right, ten yards from Edenderry’s box. Eoin McArdle marvellous effort deceived the keeper and bent inside the left post.

Kilcock finished the half on a high with a succession of corners and free-kick attempts. Ryan O’Connell went closest in the dying moments when his effort from a free from the right side of the penalty box just cleared the crossbar.

In the second period, Edenderry were more in the game and put the home side under tremendous pressure. In the tenth minute Celtic’s replacement keeper Conor Dully was forced to make a save from Jack Dempsey, but Mark Nolan forced the rebound into the net to level the game. In the next few minutes, Town were awarded a penalty on the edge of the area, Mark Nolan slotted the ball past the diving keeper to take the lead.

With only twenty minutes to go, Celtic threw everything into attack in search of the vital equaliser. On the half-hour mark, Dane Hoban raced up the right wing and found Neil Vorster midway inside the oppositions half, Vorster raced past his marker and chipped the advancing keeper but his effort came back off the crossbar.

With nine minutes to go Shaun Maguire set up Eoin McArdle, on the edge of the visitor’s area, his goal bound volley was saved by the keeper and deflected for a corner. Celtic crowded the area and the in-swinging corner was met by Leon Glennon, whose header found the back of the net.

Kilcock were now in the ascendancy and continued to dominate. Adam Leonard started the next move and released Dafydd Jones through the centre, Jones switched play out to the right wing and found Ian Mooney in space. Mooney was brought down on the edge of the area and was awarded a free-kick. McArdle send in an in-swinger into the danger zone, Diarmuid Ryan’s shot was blocked and the follow up from Shaun Maguire was forced wide for a corner. Vorster sent in the corner from the left, which was met at the near post by Evan Comerford whose flick header evaded the keeper hit the back of the net.

The home side continued to dominate proceeding for the remaining minutes as the hot conditions showed in the exhausted players.
Best for Edenderry were Cormac Curley and Jamie Pollard while Dane Hoban, Ahaun Maguire and Dafydd Jones were outstanding for Kilcock Celtic.
