Kilcock Celtic 2 Kilcullen 5 AET

KSUL U14 Shield
April 10th 2010

Sometime it takes a knockout competition to bring out the best in teams and this was the case on Saturday morning in Kilcock, when Kilcullen came out on top after extra time in a very entertaining Under 14 shield game.

Straight from the kick off ,it was Kilcullen who attacked and were narrowly wide with there first effort. Kilcock Celtic did not settle in the first half and found themselves 2 down after 20 min. To there credit they kept trying and got themselves back in the game, when a nice passing move involving Barry Hill, Cathal Daly and Daniel Byrne was finished to the net by Jamie Taggart.

If the first half belonged to Kilcullen, the second was dominated by Kilcock Celtic. They got there equalizer about 10 min into the half when Jamie Taggart beat the offside trap to prod the ball home under the advancing Kilcullen goalkeeper. Kilcock Celtic kept up the pressure and Barry Hill, Jordan Hamilton and Niall Gribben went close to scoring.

Unfortunately for Kilcock extra time was a different story and 2 early goals for Kilcullen in the first period killed off the game. Best for Kilcock Celtic was Keith Leonard, Ricardo Munchean and John Grehan
