Wants ban on HGVs through Maynooth

MAYNOOTH, 12 April 2002: by Bill Trapman. A ban on HGVs travelling through Maynooth is being proposed by local councillor John McGinley.

In a motion before the Leixlip Area Committee on Monday, he says the ban should be effected when the new Intel/M4 link to the motorway opens and that the HGV traffic could be diverted via that link and the N4 Blacklion junction.

Cllr McGinley also wants the Maynooth Action Strategy document ‘Bike to the Future’ to be submitted to the Dublin Transportation Office with the proposal of Maynnoth to be the first choice of Kildare Councty Council for funding of the next Safe Route to School Programme.

The Leixlip Area Committee currently has 15 adjourned Notices of Motion on its agenda for discussion, and nine current motions.
